Hernandez ready to race
- no matter where he is
MONTGOMERY,
Ala. (April
12, 2007)
- Josh
Hernandez,
driver of
the Dr.
Moon's Rage
'57 Chevy
Bel Air Pro
Mod, knows
there's a
race this
weekend in
the
Flowmaster
ADRL, trying
to figure
out what
it's called
and which
race of the
season it
is, however,
might
require an
abacus, a
sextant, or
some kind of
magical star
map.
Because of
inclement
weather and
scheduling
issues, this
event,
officially
the
inaugural
Shelor.com
Motor Mile
Spring
Drags,
essentially
replaces the
Speedtech
Winter Drags
in the
schedule,
and will
also serve
as the
completion
of the
eliminations
rounds of
the 2006
ADRL World
Finals,
which were
rained out
last fall in
Kennedale,
Texas. The
World Finals
make-up
races will
be held
Friday and
Saturday at
MMP.
"If you
can't figure
that all
out, you're
not alone,"
Hernandez
laughed. "It
comes down
to this,
really -
there's a
whole lot of
points on
the table
here this
weekend, and
we have to
be ready to
race.
"I'm really
excited to
get the '57
out of the
box and run
her down the
track - and
I know
Howard
[Moon, crew
chief] will
have things
ready to
go," he
said.
Hernandez
advanced to
the
semifinals
in the
Houston race
earlier this
season, and
sits
currently
No. 3 in
AlphaTrade
Battle for
the Belts
points.
"There will
be a lot of
competition
at the
event, and I
know Troy [Critchley,
Hernandez'
teammate]
will be
gunning for
the top too,
so we will
all have our
hands full,"
Hernandez
said.
The Spring
Drags get
under way
Friday with
open testing
for all four
professional
classes at 1
p.m. local
time, with
the
quarterfinals
and
semifinals
of the World
Finals
scheduled
for later
that
evening. All
three rounds
of Spring
Drags
qualifying
will be held
on Saturday,
a day that
concludes
with the
final rounds
of the World
Finals.
Sunday is
reserved for
Spring Drags
eliminations
in all four
classes,
beginning at
12:30 p.m.
Results are
available on
the series'
website,
