Hernandez Blasts to
Provisional Number One
in Gainesville
GAINESVILLE,
Fla. (March
16, 2007) -
Josh
Hernandez,
driver of
the Dr.
Moon's Rage
'68 Camaro
Pro Mod, is
the top
qualifier
after two
out of three
scheduled
runs in the
AMS Pro Mod
Challenge
season-opening
ACDelco NHRA
Gatornationals.
Blasting to
a
6.015/240.68,
Hernandez
sits on top
of what has
the
potential to
be one of
the quickest
fields in
AMS Pro Mod
history.
"It feels
great,"
Hernandez
said. "I'll
definitely
sleep well
tonight
knowing that
we're at the
top.
"I know that
anything can
happen, and
with the
cars that
we've got
out here,
any one of
them can put
down a
record
setting run
tomorrow,
but, I'm
confident
that we're
in a really
good place,"
he said with
a smile.
"Howard
[Moon, crew
chief] and
the boys
have done
such a great
job, it
makes my job
easy
sometimes.
With that
'Moon
horsepower,'
I feel
really good
every time
we go to the
line. I'm
just glad
that Tommy [Lipar,
team
sponsor] was
here to see
that run.
Without him
and Dave
Wood [AMS
Staff
Leasing
owner and
team
sponsor] and
all of our
other
sponsors, we
wouldn't be
able to do
this,"
Hernandez
said.
"Now, we
just need to
go laps
tomorrow
night and
Sunday," he
added.
Hernandez
and the AMS/Rage
team have
one
additional
qualifying
run
scheduled
for 2 p.m.
Saturday in
the AMS
Staff
Leasing Pro
Modified
Challenge
presented by
Tindle
Enterprises,
Inc. The
first round
of
eliminations
will be run
at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday,
and will
conclude
Sunday,
March 18
beginning at
11 a.m. at
Gainesville
Raceway.
