Hernandez Looking
to go Rounds in Belle Rose
Belle Rose, Louisiana (July 6, 2005)
– Pro Modified driver Joshua Hernandez is relaxed and
ready for the Inaugural TORCO Gear Summer Drags Presented
by Ambrose Printing on July 8-9 in Belle Rose, La. After
two weeks of rest and reflection since his disappointing
second round foul start at the Sears Craftsman NHRA
nationals in Madison, Illinois, the first-year driver is
determined to move on toward more successful events.
“The time off has really helped me
get my thoughts together and focus on what I need to do. I
know the car will be ready to fly, and I just have to do
my part,” Hernandez said.
“As a team, we’ve gone over the car
set-up and my pre-race routine so we’re all on the same
page,” he explained. “Now, we just have to go rounds.”
The event is the third of six on
American Drag Racing League Outlaw Pro Mods schedule in
which Hernandez sits fifth in the points race. In addition
to the ADRL's Outlaw Pro Mods, the TLR/AMS Pro Mods will
also be competing for the first time this year at an ADRL
national event. Hernandez also sits fifth in the points
chase for the AMS/TLR Pro Mod Cup -- 1,277 behind the
leader, 2004 World Champion Mike Ashley.
Hernandez is on top of 2005
Flowmaster Pro Mod CLASH points race, holding a five-point
lead over veteran driver Jay Payne. The CLASH will be
contested by the top eight drivers at the 5th annual AC
Delco Las Vegas NHRA nationals October 20-23, 2005 for a
total purse of more than $73,000 with the winner receiving
$25,000.
“These ADRL races are always a lot
of fun. We have a great car, and I know the fans will
definitely get quite a show from all of the Pro Mods. I
think it’s such an amazing class – full of exciting runs
and really cool looking cars,” Hernandez said.
Qualifying begins on Friday with Pro
Mod sessions at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Saturday’s schedule
includes the final qualifying sessions at 2:00 and 4:00
p.m. and eliminations scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m. and
run through the evening.
The Men's Channel will be on hand
filming both Outlaw Pro Mod classes (Pro Extreme and Pro
Nitrous) and ESPN2 will also be trackside filming the AMS
Pro Mod Challenge Presented by TLR.
